Not all gluten-free sourdough starters behave the same.

Our Easy Rise Gluten Free Starter has been developed for bakers who want clearer signs that their starter is active and ready to bake. Different to our organic brown rice flour starter, this culture is maintained on a specially selected gluten-free flour blend that behaves much more like traditional grain flour during fermentation (ingredients below).

The result? A starter that develops a much more noticeable rise after feeding, making it far easier to tell when it's reached its peak.

Brown rice flour simply doesn't have the same properties that trap the gases produced during fermentation, so it often bubbles without showing a significant increase in volume. Our Easy Rise blend has been crafted to better support gas retention, giving you the visual cues that bakers rely on with traditional wheat-based starters.

How is it different from your Organic Gluten Free Starter?

Both starters produce fantastic gluten-free sourdough and are maintained using gluten-free ingredients.

Our Organic Gluten Free Starter is fed with organic brown rice flour, making it the perfect choice for those who prioritise organic ingredients. However, brown rice flour naturally produces a starter that doesn't typically rise as dramatically, even when it is healthy and active.

Our Easy Rise Gluten Free Starter is maintained on a specially selected coeliac-safe gluten-free flour blend designed to behave more like traditional bread flour. It traps more of the carbon dioxide produced during fermentation, resulting in a much more noticeable rise after feeding. This makes it easier to judge exactly when your starter is at its peak and ready to bake.

If you're new to gluten-free sourdough, or you'd simply like a starter that gives you clearer visual feedback, the Easy Rise Starter is an excellent choice.

📦 Where do you ship from?
We ship all orders from our home base in Port Macquarie to the rest of Australia.

🚚 How long does shipping take?
Standard delivery within Australia usually takes 2–8 business days. Rural areas may take a little longer, up to 15 days. You’ll receive tracking info once your order is dispatched.

🚚 How well do the live starters travel?
We routinely post our live starters from NSW to remote WA and the NT and have not encountered any issues with activity upon feeding after arriving at their new home.

🌍 Do you ship internationally?
We only ship within Australia.

💸 How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your location and order size. We offer free shipping on orders over $120 AUD however, if your order is heavy, we sometimes ask for shipping fees.

📬 When will my order be sent?
Orders are typically packed and shipped within 12-48 hrs after payment. You'll get an email with tracking as soon as it's on its way.

Address Accuracy
